Halloween Fun

Hi ladies I felt like I didn't get to list all of the fun October ideas in our newsletter, so I wanted to list some more fun things that you should try to do soon... especially since you might have a little more time this week during fall break. I am going to break them down by some different categories:

FAMILY FUN:
  • Cornbellys Corn Maze & Pumpkin Fest, at Thanksgiving Point. If you buy your tickets online here, you will receive a free $5 pumpkin with your purchase.
  • Pumpkin Point Farms 11900 S 3600 W * Riverton, Utah 84065
  • Farnsworth Farms & Cider Mill 11228 South 700 East, Sandy, UT 84070The Great Pumpkin Festival – Friday & Saturdays in October (weather permitting) from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We will be watching "Charlie Brown's The Great Pumpkin" outdoors, so bring your favorite chair and a blanket. We will have hot cider and doughnuts available as well as a pumpkin patch and other great produce.
  • Scary Story Trail. The Halloween event will provide a safe, fun way for kids and families to enjoy the holiday. Scary Story Trail will feature trick-or-treating, haunted trail, spooky stories around a campfire, Native American village, games and contests, cake walk, and hay rides. There is a day use fee of $6.00 per vehicle up to 8 people. Fremont Indian State Park and Museum * 3820 West Clear Creek Canyon Rd * Sevier, UT 84766.
  • Boo at the Zoo! Hogle Zoo. Kids 12 and younger can come in costume to trick-or-treat at various booths set up throughout zoo grounds.
  • Day of the Dead Celebration at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center a community event recognizing this significant and expressive Mexican holiday. The free fiesta features a variety of family-friendly, exciting and educational events for the general public. Oct. 30th at 6-9 p.m.
  • Heber Valley Railroad: Haunted Canyon is a vary unique way to celebrate in Utah. Dare to climb aboard a ghoulishly spooky 35 minute ride, destination unknown! This spooky ride is suitable for children of all ages.
SHOWS:
  • Thriller at Kingsbury Hall at the U. Shows are every night (except Sunday) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $20, but if you call (you have to call 801-581-7100 to get discount) the day of the show, students get 2 for 1. I would leave the kids at home, it says it is not recommended for kids under 8, plus it's a little pricey.
  • Spooky Story Forge held at Blackwillows Farm, for two nights only and hear some of the best classic and new tales of mystery and terror. Shivery fun for the entire family; delight in stories told by the firelight of a century old forge, right after a a magic show! The fun starts promptly at 7:00pm, thursday, October 23th and saturday, the 25th, in front of the Old White Barn, 151 South 2250 West, south of Slaterville Park. Tickets are $4/person, or $13/family.
  • Witchapalooza at The Gathering Place 25th of Oct. 2009 7 p.m. Gardner Village, 1100 W. 7800 South, West Jordan. Enjoy an evening of dinner, music and bewitching fun as Witchapalooza Dinner Theater returns once again to The Gathering Place. This October, the beloved Weston the Warlock and his crazy, cackling witches are back for another year of memories, music and fun, as he seeks to find his true love. Enjoy traveling through the decades with colorful costumes, witty dialogue, and an extraordinary musical score. Add to the mix, a delicious dinner and you have the makings of an ideal Halloween outing for the whole family.
  • Paranormal Dinner & Dark Tour at the Hogle Zoo. Interested in the paranormal? Check out the Dinner & Dark Tour and learn from the professionals. During dinner, paranormal investigators will discuss how they detect paranormal activity. There will be a slide show of various places they have investigated, myths vs. true paranormal activity and how they detect it. After dinner there will be a "dark tour" through some of the Zoo and you will be able to check out some of the equipment they use, such as infrared cameras.
HAUNTED HOUSES:
I know that this is a lot, and there is SO much more out there to do. So enjoy this fun time of year and partake of at least one of the many great things that Utah has to offer!
